INC Research and TheraSim Partner to Offer Robust Clinical Performance Management Solutions
Simulation training and development critical to reduce clinical trial variability
INC Research, a therapeutically-focused contract research organization (CRO) with a trusted process for delivering reliable results, announced a partnership with TheraSim™ to provide a web-based Clinical Performance Management (CPM) system that uses a fully interactive patient simulation environment to both assess and improve the skills and behaviors of clinicians. Advanced training and development technology supports the metrics-driven methodology designed within INC Research's trusted process™.
TheraSim, an industry leader in CPM technology, has designed its system to rapidly assess site competency, correct deficiencies in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and protocol adherence through targeted training, and also develops new skills to continuously improve the competency levels of clinical trial personnel at a site level. INC Research recognizes the need to implement a comprehensive process for developing sites and improving outcomes. The CRO initially plans on implementing the TheraSim CPM system for investigator site training, which is critical to the clinical trial process and currently lacks a global standard for training and development.
"Our ability to develop relationships with experienced investigator sites has already proven to be a huge benefit to our customers. Establishing competency standards and proactively training and developing high performing sites with CPM technology, enables us to reduce variability when it comes to site selection," said James T Ogle, chief executive officer of INC Research. "TheraSim CPM software will assist us in better measurement and improvement of the complex knowledge, skills and behavior required to manage complex, multi-site, global clinical trials."
INC Research's Trusted Process is a series of phases that proactively lead customers through their drug and device development programs with repeatable and measurable methodology. As a result, INC Research minimizes trial risk factors and customers experience a high level of confidence to make informed decisions with their study data and analysis.
David D Hadden, chief executive officer of TheraSim commented, "We searched for a CRO partner that had repeatable methodology for delivering consistent results in clinical trial management as well as a track record of success. INC Research's Trusted Process was perfectly suited to leverage our performance management applications. Our software does not create the methodology and protocols but it does a great job of ensuring that the behavior of clinical trial investigators and study coordinators conforms to the process. TheraSim CPM measures and reduces the variability introduced by the human element in the process."
TheraSim CPM uses patient simulation, remote adaptive learning and artificial intelligence technologies to track performance levels over time for every trial management participant. TheraSim CPM simulations closely model tasks in the actual practice of managing and executing a clinical trial. Over the past decade, simulation studies have been conducted that prove participants learn faster, retain information longer and the knowledge gained is more readily transferred into workplace skills.
