TheraSim CPM Gets Results
 
These graphs illustrate the ability of TheraSim CPM to measure and improve the clinical quality and performance of participating clinicians. This data consisted of a cohort of 170 physicians from 60 CDC supported hospitals managing over 20,000 patients with HIV/AIDS in East Africa. Each of the red dots in the graphs indicate a clinical interaction between a physician and a simulated patient. The patient simulations were drawn from patients charts that are typical of the ranges of cases they would typically face. Over 2000 simulations were conducted. The distance the red dot is from the center indicates the cumulate errors that occurred in the simulation. Dots that are within the green bullseye indicate technical errors that would not adversely impact patient outcomes. The further the dot is from the center, the more severe the deviation from treatment guidelines and/or cumulative errors such as drug interactions, misdiagnosis or dosing errors.

The left graph shows the baseline performance of the cohort at installation of TheraSim CPM. After working with TheraSim Health Tracks and it’s e-mentoring system for 5 months, the cohort was measured again using different simulations that test the same competencies. That performance and the dramatic improvement itrepresents is shown on the right.

TheraSim Clinical Simulator (CS)
TheraSim CS is a clinical patient simulation platform for chronic and infectious diseases. TheraSim Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
TheraSim EMR is a fully-featured patient scheduling and clinical data tracking software system. TheraSim EMR can be used over the internet, on a single computer or over a local area network. The distinguishing feature of TheraSim EMR is the fully integrated TheraSim CR (Clinical Rules) decision support system. Studies have shown that CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) systems have a significantly greater impact on error reduction when combined with decision support ( Bates, et. al ).
 
TheraSim Physician’s Assistant (PA)
TheraSim PA is a portable, hand-held decision support system for the Palm™, Pocket PC™ and tablet computing platforms. TheraSim PA provides affordable, point-of-care decision support for clinicians involved in the delivery of pharmacotherapy for disease treatment.

TheraSim PA supports the clinician by delivering patient-centric information needed to select and deliver the most effective therapy. TheraSim PA interfaces through a wireless connection to the TheraSim EMR system. The patient data and desired treatment path are analyzed by TheraSim CR using a knowledgebase of clinical best practices. The clinical knowledgebase is derived from clinical treatment guidelines, pharmacokinetic databases and other reputable published sources of clinical algorithms and guidance.
