Any resources dedicated to treatment and infrastructure need a corresponding commitment to educating the health care professionals that will distribute that aid. Al Phillips, who shares the LWA leadership responsibility continued to comment;

According to NIH statistics, as of the end of 2002, 42 million people worldwide were infected with HIV, which is about 14,000 infections a day, 2000 of which were children. In 2002 alone, there were 3.1 millions deaths due to HIV, 610,000 of which, were children. In the US, the rate of new infection is actually increasing.

LWA was founded in June 2003 and is comprised of seven board members.
