Research Triangle Park, NC
TheraSim announced the releases of their Heath Metrics Dashboard (HMD), an analysis and reporting tool that collects clinical quality metrics from thousands of TheraSim practitioner users from over 105 countries.
Clinical capacity development programs strive to increase the number and quality of physicians and nurses around the globe to deal with the scourge of chronic and infectious diseases such as HIV, diabetes and TB. These efforts have been hampered by the difficulty in measuring clinician skill gaps, the lack of scalability of traditional classroom-based training and the lack of simulation training systems which provide a realistic, practice-based training methodology. TheraSim's simulation-based capacity building systems provide accurate metrics on clinician clinical behavior and clinical quality and now, with the release of HMD, funding agencies, governments and other decision makers can have instant access to data on the strengths and weaknesses of clinical practitioners as well as the impact of programs to improve their medical skills and knowledge.

The TheraSim Clinical Dashboard provides unprecedented visibility into the current clinical capacity of a healthcare workforce in terms of their ability to effectively treat patients with chronic and infectious diseases. It also shows the effect over time of quality improvement programs. The TheraSim decision support system provides dynamic clinical feedback at the point of case, based on the physician's therapy choices and the patient's condition. Designed as a stand alone application with a freeware EMR developed by TheraSim, or as a decision support engine for other EMRs and Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) systems. Features include:

Uses participant interactions with simulation cases to assess how well clinician choices match up to an extensive knowledgebase of practice guidelines and prescribing information to measure and assess critical clinician competencies. Analyzes the resulting data and increasing visibility to the agencies and governments that support large global health capacity projects.
Key decision-makers can actually build their own reports dynamically and get the results instantly. Multiple assessments and data-feeds can also be integrated. Reports how many users correctly diagnosed conditions, accurately treated the conditions, avoided interactions, dosed drugs properly, etc.

TheraSim's VP of Global Health, Jonathan Estes was reached for comment, "This tool changes everything. Before now, governments and health agencies had little to no visibility into the quality of their healthcare work-force or the impact of expensive training and capacity building programs. Now they can see the reports they need to make more effective funding and other strategic decisions immediately.

JoAnne Schaberick, TheraSim's VP of Business Development also commented, "This product is a huge differentiator for TheraSim in the continuing medical education (CME) space. Before the TheraSim Health Metrics Dashboard, CME sponsors had to wait quarterly for reports on completion rates and scores for the web-based CME programs they support. Now, they can view reports on these metrics daily. HMD goes even further to report on the actual skills of the clinicians as they relate to learning objectives.
